About the project: Clean Baltic Source — Wastewater Treatment in Lviv and Volyn Oblasts aims to address the common challenge of improving the ecological status of water bodies in the region, particularly in Ukraine, where inadequate wastewater treatment poses a significant environmental risk.
The long-term goal of this project is to support the ecological health of the Vistula River Basin in Ukraine. It aims to facilitate Ukraine's transition from outdated and inadequate wastewater treatment to modern solutions, aligned with EU standards. The project's results and policy briefs will be used to guide further cooperation, both through official channels and via cross-border partnerships. It is expected to open doors to future funding opportunities, including EU pre-accession operational programs and collaboration with multilateral financial institutions like EIB, EBRD, and NEFCO.
One of the components of the project is organization of 5 one-day workshops on (1) technical solutions (best technologies, nature-based solutions etc.); (2) management models (institutional setup, governance, financial models); (3) project finance (CapEx financing, project preparation); (4 - 5) joint WWT systems roadmap development (input to the Plan of Measures).
PPV's role: Within the project, the Centre for Regional Development (Agency PPV) will be leading work on Funding Overview target, responsible for policy makers working group, activities with international finance institutions and supporting joint projects (incl. funding applications) development.
